Jill Sherman-Warne (She/Her/Hers) is the Executive Director of the Native American Environmental Protection Coalition (NAEPC) where she works with 27 tribes located in CA, AZ, NV, and NM.  She is an enrolled member of the Hoopa Valley Tribe.  She was honored to serve as an elected Tribal Councilmember in 1995-97 and she began a new term in 2022.  Ms. Sherman-Warne received an appointment by the State Governor to the California Native American Heritage Commission where she served for 15 years.  Jill considers herself a “Tribal Sovereignist” working to ensure tribes expand legal authorities beyond reservation borders.  She is a graduate of College of the Redwoods and Humboldt State University.  Jill built her respected professional reputation by serving tribes in a variety of capacities: traditional language learning, vocational rehabilitation program development, emergency response planning and writing a variety of tribal grants. Jill immerses her energy into building scalable tribal programs to increase and strength the tribal sovereignty. Jill’s cadre of skills allowed her to enjoy working on both congressional and state grass root campaign efforts , serving on state, regional, and local tribal boards and committees.  Jill enjoys providing tribes the necessary tools to improving their capacity and capability to meet and exceed federal standards without increasing management burdens. Jill is a Senior Consultant to the Environmental Finance Center West and currently serves as Vice-Chair of the San Diego American Indian Health Clinic Board of Directors, a member of the UC San Diego Chancellor’s Community Advisory Board, San Diego Water Advisory Board, the Clean Vehicle Assistance (CVA) Advisory Board and the Mobile Renewable Generator Technical Advisory Committee. Recently the California Air Resources Board appointed Jill to serve as the First Native American appointed to the State’s Environmental Justice Advisory Committee (EJAC).  Recently Ms. Sherman-Warne received an appointment to the Cal-EPA Tribal Advisory Committee (TAC).
