The College of the Redwoods is thrilled to present the 2024 Student Art Exhibition at the Floyd Bettiga Gallery from Tuesday, March 19 through Friday, May 3. The work included in the show spans a huge range of media and styles, including realistic and abstract painting, life drawing, functional ceramics, landscape and conceptual photography, sculpture, and collage. It represents the breadth of CR Art Department offerings and the accomplishments of 2023-2024 CR students. A public reception, including the awards presentation, will take place in the gallery on Wednesday, April 17 from 2 pm to 5 pm.
The judge of this year’s Student Art Exhibition judge is Eliseo Casiano, a painter who documents time through portraiture. Using an interplay of vibrant color relationships and reference to light, he depicts radiant beings existing in space. Casiano is an Assistant Professor of Painting at Cal Poly Humboldt. He will present student awards and discuss his selections in the gallery during the reception on April 17.
The 2024 Student Art Exhibition is made possible through the generous support of Robert and Desirée Yarber, The Ingrid Nickelsen Trust, A to Z Eye Care, Advanced Security Systems, Ellis Art and Engineering, Cynthia Hooper, The Ingrid Nickelsen Trust, Jitter Bean Coffee Co., Mary Mallahan & Dave Bazard, The Redwood Art Association, Emily Silver, Jesse Wiedel, and more.
