College of the Redwoods presents FAM, a group exhibition of art by participants in REBOUND, a community-based arts and culture organization founded by College of the Redwoods faculty member Benjamin Funke, which initiates projects with the goal of enhancing everyday life. A public reception will take place at the gallery on Thursday, September 15 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.
REBOUND’s recent projects include brightly painted basketball courts and large-scale murals in Humboldt County, and FAM features a striking, colorful collection of works on paper, video, and paintings from the independent studio practices of the REBOUND team. The group is comprised of CR and CalPoly Humboldt students, alumni, and faculty, with other members of the local art community, and includes Alme Allen, Neveah Cox, Sheala Dunlap, Trent Franks, Benjamin Funke, Jeremy Hara, L.L. Kessner, Luis Oviedo, Saul Pedroza and Blake Reagan.
Benjamin Funke teaches a range of studio art courses including sculpture and drawing at CR and CalPoly Humboldt. He earned his MFA at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana, and currently lives and works as an artist in Arcata. More information about REBOUND can be found through their Instagram account @r_e_b_o_u_n_d and on the web at www.r-e-b-o-u-n-d.net.
