The College of the Redwoods Rodeo program welcomes both competitive and non-competitive members. To become a competitive member of the Corsair Rodeo Program, individuals must meet the membership requirements specified by NIRA (National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association) and College of the Redwoods. The criterion for competitive membership is as follows.
NIRA Membership Requirements:
- Maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA
- Complete 12 academic credit hours per semester
- Be a dues-paying, card-carrying member
- Abide by the NIRA Code of Conduct
- High school transcripts for incoming first year-students
CR Membership Requirements:
- Attend scheduled practices, meetings, and program events
- Register for the team
- Pay additional insurance fees
- Sign waver for participation and livestock agreement for personal use/boarding livestock at practice facility (Ferndale Fairgrounds)
While prior experience with competitive rodeo and horses or livestock is highly recommended, it is not always necessary to become a member of the College of the Redwoods Rodeo program.
